The Board of Pumped Hydro Storage Sweden AB has decided to appoint Thomas Johansson as new CEO starting January 1st, 2020. The Board also appointed the founder and present CEO, Otto Werneskog, to the new working Chairman of the Board.
The current Chairman, Jan Lundberg, remains on the Board.

Thomas Johansson has a long international experience from senior management positions in several of ABB’s technology intense project businesses within the Power Grids division. In addition, Thomas led the sales team leading to the award of the world’s largest battery energy storage system, Fairbanks, Alaska. He was extensively involved in the development and market introduction of ABB’s HVDC and SVC Light technologies.
The Board also appointed the founder and present CEO, Otto Werneskog, to the new working Chairman of the Board. The current Chairman, Jan Lundberg, remains on the Board.
”It is both comforting and gratifying to hand over the Chairman stewardship to Otto, who has been on board from the beginning, and to add industrial experience with Thomas. The timing of this ramp-up is excellent considering the increasing share of green electricity and the fast growing needs for large-scale energy storage”, says Jan.
